Well its the Cavalcade season again, Rob and I travelled down Friday evening to Waikaia which was about 2 1/2 hours away from home. The Glenary Station is the only privately owned station left in NZ.
The weather was really bad just before we travelled - snow down to ground level on the Thursday, and the Scheduled Friday ride that we couldn't attend due to work was posponed until 11.30 instead of the usual 8am start (Thursday night had also been below freezing!)
and they ended up back at the woolshed at 2.30pm - so by the time we got there at 8pm the drinking had well and truly started!
Saturday thankfully dawned bright and sunny and the ride was spectacular - first time I have ridden in snow wearing a t-shirt!
Here are a few photos, we had a great time on the Saturday shin-dig too, catching up with friends from the past cavalcades.

Riding along one of the rivers - we rode through quite a few rivers, which was good fun.

A steep hill - and the tussocks covered in snow - that was a hard climb for the horses
Thats Rob & Sparrow at the bottom of the hill!

This is a picture of Piano Flat Road - we had 16km to ride before reaching the station & the end of the ride - A LONG 16km I can tell you.... it was hard going after 6 hours in the saddle!

Sparrow getting off for a fag! - YES he's got a neck collar on - he is one of the trek wranglers, and he fell off a horse the week before - and STILL rode the whole 3 days!! Nutter
Well the next one is in March that I can go to as Mum and Dad arrive on the same day as the next cavalcade.... so we will be in Queenstown
